Pak a Bag

Following the recent visit of Nick & Sheila Court from Step Wise Youth ministries (SWYM) in South Africa, we have decided to further support their work by getting involved in the ‘Pak a Bag’ project.
The bags produced will be distributed to boys and girls in the schools that Nick & Sheila visit in South Africa.20130523-224356.jpg

To this end, a special ‘Pak a Bag’ evening will be held on Tuesday 4th June at 7:30pm. Hazel Gray writes:

We want people who can either use a sewing machine, cut out, iron, sew on buttons or just make tea and coffee to keep everyone going.
We need thick fabric eg. old curtains, denim, winter weight skirts etc. for the main part of the bag and thinner cotton fabric for the straps. We also need thread to sew the bag together and buttons – about 1″in diameter- 2 for each bag.
We are also asking for donations of money to buy the items which will be put in the bags – school materials and personal hygiene items.
We are planning a second get together at the beginning of July, date to be decided, during the day, for those unable to attend an evening session.

For more information, please get in touch with Hazel. If you can contribute your time, resources or finances to this project it would be much appreciated.
